be goodness

Often when we hear, “be good” it means to behave and have moral uprightness. But goodness is a bit different, and often it’s used interchangeably with kindness.

Yet, they are different. Kindness is compassion and tenderness. But goodness is a step beyond kindness. Agathousune (the Greek word for goodness here), isn’t simply “feeling” compassion, this goodness is about “doing.” We are called to action, an action of love, and we show this love through agathousune (goodness).

Goodness is to care enough to do something about it, moving from simply helping to guiding. Whether it’s to walk with a friend going through a trial, aiding a stranger with a need, or showing love by being honest when someone is traveling the wrong path. But that goodness only comes from the Holy Spirit.

“Why do you ask Me about what is good?” Yeshua said to him. “There is only One who is good; but if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Matthew 19:17 TLV

I wasn’t sure if I was going to be happy about how this design turned out, but I actually really love it! Available on Redbubble!
