Butterfly

Butterflies are often associated with new life.

Butterflies are usually associated with new life. They are fanciful creatures with awe-inspiring beauty. Tough the caterpillar is a God-made beauty, it cannot compete with the elegance of a butterfly.

Let’s take a look at the Bible verse, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:2 TLV

Transformed here is actually the Greek term μεταμορφοῦσθε (metamorphoó), meaning metamorphosis. To transform, usually involves changing from one state to another. Yet metamorphosis is so much more! It means transforming by way of something supernatural (God/Holy Spirit). Other definitions conclude metamorphosis is transforming from an embryonic stage to an adult stage. It’s not some small, minute difference, but instead a significant, awe-inspiring, only-Jesus-can-do-it change!

So when we look at the butterfly and look at this verse, we aren’t just transformed by our own ability. Our minds are incredibly renewed and metamorphosed by God’s power! Though everyone is fearfully and wonderfully made by God, Christians are called to be awe-inspiring!

So today, remember, be like the butterfly!
