Every morning, my family gathers around the kitchen table and my husband leads us through Bible time. We always start with YouVersion’s Daily Verse. Today’s verse was Matthew 5:14
City set on a Hill
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
When Jesus says “You are the light of the World,” it isn’t OUR light but Jesus’ Light that we are shining. Just as the moon gives off not it’s own light but the sun’s light!
As for a city, visible and not hidden, so are Christians following the call. Imagery says we are the buildings. Inside the buildings are the lights, the Light of Christ shining from us.
Shining the light, or the love, the care, peace and kindness is not a request, but an expectation for Christian’s with a changed heart. So today, in the midst of Christmas chaos, remember to shine the Light!
