Storms
We have had a few storms lately, maybe you have too! Storms provide growth, but they can also wreak havoc on their surroundings!
In the Psalms there is a beautiful verse, “He stilled the storm to a whisper— the waves were hushed,” Psalms 107:29. While it’s true that God can do ANYTHING, including making the storms fade away. Jesus says in John 16:33, “You WILL have trouble.” Not you “might have trouble,” or “sometimes there will be trouble.” Nope, you WILL have trouble.
So this whole God calming the storm thing, isn’t that the same as trouble? Not exactly. He doesn’t promise that the troubles will flee, just that the storms will calm and still. I view the storms as two things. The first is the struggles with go through that allow us to grow in our faith.
But on the flip side, storms can be seen as our anxieties and worries. It builds up inside, twists everything around, and breaks down our foundations. It gives us fear and causes us to stop moving. If you head back over to Psalm 107, you will see what happens after God stilled the storms. It says in verse 30 that He led them to their desired haven. It doesn’t say the storm won’t happen, but God’s going to lead us through them to a preferable place.

Today, if you have storms or troubles, remember God will calm the storms and lead you through your troubles! Just focus on Him!
