The End is just the Beginning

The End is just the Beginning

Today is Friday, the end of the week! But the beginning of some wonderful weekend opportunities! Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

In all seriousness though, when you read a story, or watch a movie, and it’s “The End” have you ever wondered, “What’s next”? This thought can be applied to so many things!

The end of a journey can be seen as the beginning of a new one. The end of work is the beginning of rest. The end of your birthday is the beginning of a new year. The end of the teenage years is the beginning of adulthood. The end of pregnancy is a new baby. The death of your old self is the beginning of new life!

“Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭TLV‬‬

People often enjoy clinging to what is comfortable and old ways are much more comfortable than venturing into something new. I like to think about when I go out to eat, no matter what restaurant I go to, I always order the SAME thing, shrimp alfredo. It’s wonderful, comfortable and I know exactly what to expect. However, if all I ever order is the same thing, then I am missing out on some AMAZING menu items.

To be honest, this happens with much more than just meals! It is difficult to end our old ways of living, thinking, reacting and dealing with things. It’s much easier and feels more comfortable to shout and get angry with my children, than to stop, breathe, wait for the Holy Spirit and use a new method of dealing with them. We all get caught up in doing things in our old ways, yours may be something different than mine, and it’s tough to end that sinful nature, every day we can begin again.

Take some time today to think about your old self and what things you are afraid to put to an end, what things hinder you from a newer and more amazing beginning!?

For those who have been Christians for many years, the same thing goes just as those who have a newer relationship with Jesus. Do you know, everyone of us gets settled into our comfortable ways, and it’s difficult to break out into a new beginning?

Even seasoned Christians get comfortable in their music style, preaching style, clothing style and their way of thinking about things. As we should refer back to God’s Word for the basis of our morals and beliefs, that doesn’t mean some things should end and we shouldn’t embrace a new beginning.

Have you ever thought about changing seats at church? Do you know how difficult that is?! Seriously, I love being a back row Baptist. Do you know, not all women like wearing dresses? Yup, I am all about some pants and flats, especially running after 4 kids. Did you know, the sinner in the seat next to you is just as sinful as you are? It’s okay to love on them, as uncomfortable as it may be, because we need to be loved on just the same!

“But we long for each of you to show the same eagerness for the certainty of hope to the very end— so you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those inheriting the promises through trust and perseverance.” Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Just remember, the End is the the Beginning to some wonderful things! Don’t fear the end, embrace something new and exciting!
